Michael and Maggie’s Wainwright House wedding was everything you hope a June celebration will be—sunny, colorful, and absolutely overflowing with joy. From the moment I arrived at her parents’ home for hair and makeup, there was an energy in the air that set the tone for the rest of the day. Every single person—family, friends, vendors—seemed genuinely thrilled to be there celebrating these two.
Maggie and Michael are the happiest, smiliest, sweetest couple you could ever hope to photograph. They exude this contagious warmth and genuine love that makes everyone around them feel lighter. You can see it in how they look at each other, how they laugh, and how they dance—it’s rare, and it’s real.
The weather could not have been better. It was one of those perfectly warm, golden New York summer days that feels like it was made for a wedding. Wainwright House, nestled on the waterfront in Rye, NY, looked breathtaking from every angle. The property’s historic charm, the view of the water, and the lush gardens made it the perfect setting for Maggie’s vision—classic elegance with a colorful, floral twist.
Everything from the ceremony to the reception took place at the venue, which made the day feel seamless and relaxed. The florals were incredible—lush, vibrant, and abundant, perfectly complementing the coastal setting. The food was not only delicious but stunningly presented, and as the sun began to dip lower, Wainwright House seemed to glow.
One of my favorite moments came right before sunset, when I pulled Maggie and Michael aside for a few golden-hour portraits. The light was soft, the air was warm, and the two of them were completely in their own world. They danced above the horizon with the water and NYC skyline in the background—completely unposed, totally themselves. It was one of those rare moments where you can feel love radiating through the lens. Some of those images—especially the silhouettes against the sunset—are among my favorites from the entire year.
There wasn’t a single person at this wedding who wasn’t overjoyed for them. Every speech, every toast, every laugh felt like it came from the deepest place of love and pride. Days like this are why I love photographing weddings—the beauty is obvious, but it’s the feeling that sticks with you.
If you’re planning a Wainwright House wedding—or searching for a colorful, joy-filled way to celebrate your love in New York—this venue is truly one of a kind. Between the water views, historic charm, and soft summer light, it’s a dream to photograph.
