When Lainey and Dima envisioned their wedding day, they wanted timeless elegance with personality—and their September celebration at Prospect Park Boathouse delivered exactly that. As a Brooklyn wedding photographer, I’m always drawn to couples who trust their vision, and this day was proof that minimalism done right creates maximum impact.

The day began with a breathtaking first look at NoMo SoHo, where Lainey and Dima shared an intimate moment on the balcony overlooking the downtown Manhattan skyline. We then ventured to Brooklyn Heights for portraits against the iconic brownstones that make this borough so magical.

The Prospect Park Boathouse transformed into a black-tie affair with understated sophistication. A classic black and white checkered dance floor anchored the space, while lush green stems and white florals added just enough elegance without overwhelming the room. Dima’s vision for guests to have “their own Met Gala moment” came through beautifully in the refined dress code and elevated atmosphere.

But the most memorable touch? Custom hats reading “Boathouse or Nowhere”—a playful nod to New York’s iconic spirit—tossed from the venue’s grand staircase. It was pure personality wrapped in elegance.

After days of uncertain weather, the skies cleared to give us perfect September sunshine. Lainey and Dima’s wedding reminded me why I love photographing Brooklyn weddings—the blend of city sophistication and genuine celebration is unmatched.
